Codman exercises…are they always the best option?

What if the patient presents an excessive scapular abduction pattern? Do we check it before prescribing this exercise?.

For patients with this condition, exercises that induce scapular protraction are not the best option.

In these cases, the therapeutic recommendations should focus on improving scapular adduction, targeting the middle and lower trap, with exercises such as Lawn Mover or Scapular Adduction in higher positions.

About the patient´s education, we should correct the thoratic kiphosis posture while sitting and try to avoid activities with excessive protraction patterns.
